Information for pilots and people interested in flying in and around the lovely Island of Alderney:

Flying to Alderney

Unlike many airports today Alderney welcomes light aviation. We try to ensure that your visit is free of the delays and frustrations experienced at busier airports and thus give you more time to explore the many delights of our island. Beaches and restaurants abound, many within walking distance.

Reduced Landing Fees:
As from 01 April 2004, landing fees at Alderney Airport will be just £8.00 for a single-engine aircraft and and £16.00 for a multi-engine aircraft, providing that the aircraft stays overnight and/or uplifts fuel.

These new charges will apply seven days a week, Winter and Summer alike, making Alderney an even more attractive destination for visiting pilots.

Cap de la Hague Restrictions:
Temporary 'Prohibited Areas' over Cap de La Hague and Flamanville have been imposed by the French authorities. The 5Km radius 'Prohibited Areas' introduced on 20 December 2002 have been extended until further notice.

Flight Planning :

Alderney Airport is situated within and governed by, the regulations applicable to the Channel Islands CTR (Class[A] airspace) and Alderney CTR (Class [D] airspace). Pilots who are unable to comply with full IFR requirements may, subject to weather minimum and air traffic restrictions, be cleared for flight within the Zone on a Special VFR clearance.

Details of SVFR restrictions will be found in the UK AIP Aerodrome (AD Volume I), or Pooleys Flight Guide. Prior permission for SVFR Zone entry clearance should be obtained by telephone from Jersey ATC.
