13th
Annual 'Island Air Races'
26th & 27th September 2009
A frightening thought though it maybe, it will not be long before the clocks change, the nights draw in and winter will be upon us.
Many of you may well be thinking of where to go for that final outing of the year, but with even Channel Island fuel prices at over £1.03 litre (Aug 2009 price), you will need to plan your valuable flying time so that you can not only have a pleasant couple of days away, but enjoy the benefits of Alderney hospitality, watch some Air Racing, buy some duty free spirits and cigarettes to bring home and fly back with full tanks of duty free fuel as well.
The Royal Aero Club Records, Racing and Rally Association are organising the Thirteenth ‘Island Air Races’, due to take place over the weekend of the 26th & 27th September. These races will determine not only the winner of the 2009 British Air Racing Championship but the European Trophy winner as well. Most of the racing fraternity will be arriving on the Friday and with various closure times operating on race days it would seem to be a good idea, if supporters did the same.
The Alderney Flying Club is proud to be able to host both participants and supporters.
The outline programme is that practice will take place between (all local time) 11.30 -13.00 on Saturday, with the first race due to be flown between 14.30 and 16.00. Sunday will see racing between 11.30 and 13.00, followed by the prize presentations.
If you have been to Alderney before, you will already know about our unique brand of hospitality. If you haven’t, then visit the States of Alderney website www.visitalderney.com
The same provider of ‘all day food’ as last year will be in the hangar and will be offering a wide range of food from which you can choose.
It’s different, but it is still Alderney. If the idea appeals to you why download a registration form at www.flyalderney.com fill in all of your details, add a cheque and return them both to me at the address on the form.
